English Language Learner Accomplishments!
Several English Language Learners from across the district were celebrated for exiting the English as a Second Language (ESP) program. These students were among the 29 students that exited the ESL program in the 2021-2022 school-year. This accomplishment was achieved by achieving the required score on the WIDA ACCESS assessment. The WIDA ACCESS is a rigorous, 4-hour test test of English proficiency that includes speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills. This is in addition to the TCAP assessment that all students take at the end of the school year.
Jefferson Elementary School Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors at Jefferson Elementary School exhibit leadership skills in both the classroom and in life. They exhibit good character, responsibility, and the ability to collaborate with peers with a positive attitude. These students have been chosen to help with leadership jobs within the school on a daily basis.
White Pine School Dream Team
The purpose and mission of the White Pine School Dream Team is to (1) Create an environment at WPS where students and staff feel welcomed, seen, and valued; (2) Assist others in areas where relationships can be created among all grade-levels; and (3) Spread joy through service.
Several Schools Take Top Scores on 2021-2022 TCAPs
The Tennessee Department of Education recognizes student growth each year. Our district's growth outpaced the expected growth for Tennessee students. Jefferson County High School, Jefferson Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, Maury Middle School, and Talbott Elementary School scored a school composite score of 5 as well. Congratulations to these students, teachers, and school leaders!
